OJ Gets Knocked Out plus Celeb Bdays!

    Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:19 AM [General]

Girl, what is up with Arnelle knocking out her Daddy? Yes, let me tell you. Arnelle Ain't Neva Scurred of that Killer! LOL!  Accoding to the Mill (Rumor Mill) Arnelle got into a fight over OJ's current girlfriend, Christy Prody.  Ms. Prody has some drinking problems (allegedly) and Arnelle got mad and OJ was taking up for his latest jump-off.

Arnelle got gangsta and pushed her 61 year-old dad to the ground causing  a minor head injury.  She then called 911 out of guilt. LOL!   What she was really mad about, was the fact that OJ keeps giving this chick Christie Prody money and stuff, but Arnelle's mom (OJ's ex Wife) has to work at Wal-mart to make ends meet. Ouch.  I think I woulda punched my dad, too.

Way to get some press, Arnell. I ain't heard from her since she was gettin' it in with Treach back in the day!

    Christie Prody - OJ's girlfriend.

    Our Wedding Interview

    Our Wedding Interview

We had an interview in Beverly Hills!!!!!  The location is really nice.

I was so nervous. I didn't know what to say.  This is such a big deal and I don't want to miss out on this opportunity. Other than that.. it was great.

They asked me what I liked most about Mary, I couldn't answer for some reason. I said becase she alwasy there for me and she takes me on cruises. What an idiot! I love everything about her.  Her smile, her eyes, her laugh, the way she can make me happy when I am sad, all the things that does for me, how supportive she is of me.

..Why didn't I say any of that stuff?  I froze and I really hope that didn't hurt our chances of winning!.

Mary is my life and I would give anything to give her the wedding of our dreams.  I even helped her make our wedding book that we showed the panel!

I am sorry Love... My fingers are still crossed!  Look at some of the photos from yesterday

Berlin has more to see than high-definition television

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 05:17 PM GMT [General]

I'm in Berlin for IFA, one of Europe's biggest technology shows. Perhaps somewhat unfairly, IFA has earned a reputation as essentially a show for high-definition televisions - there's certainly more to it than that, with a host of satellite navigation devices, personal media players, DVD players and mobile entertainment devices set to be unveiled over the next couple of days.

Manufacturers are scrambling to make the thinnest televisions possible

Having said all that, it's televisions that have caught the eye so far, with impressive new displays showcased by the likes of Philips, Sony and Sharp.

As ever, size is the major consideration - TV manufacturers are scrambling to make the thinnest televisions and biggest screens possible. Sony unveiled the ZX1, which, at just 9.9mm thick, it claims to be the world's thinnest LCD TV. There's no word on price, but it will be hitting UK shops in time for Christmas, and the picture quality looks excellent.

If that piques your interest, listen to this: Sony's 3mm thick OLED television, which caused such a stir at CES, is to go on sale in the UK in the coming months.

Not to be outdone, Sharp has taken the wraps off its 2.2cm thick Aquos XS1, while Philips continues to build on its reputation for excellent audio-visual quality with the launch of two significant new TVs: the Essence, a thin wall-mountable television with an integrated (albeit detachable) Ambisound soundbar; and, most impressively, the LED Lux, a television that does away with the usual illuminating lamps and instead uses more than 1,000 LEDs, grouped into clusters of nine lights, which can be individually adjusted to highlight light and dark areas of a TV picture. As a result, the television can achieve really deep, inky blacks without compromising on white highlights, and it's going to give some plasma screen televisions a run for their money.

Moving away from the world of televisions, other highlights so far include three new Walkman music players from Sony (which does make me wonder whether it will cannibalise sales of Sony Ericsson Walkman phones....); a protoype TV from Toshiba, which uses gesture-control to move an on-screen cursor; LG's first foray into the "netbook" market of ultra-cheap, ultra-portable laptops with the X110 and Samsung's new notebook, the X360, a 13in laptop tipping the scales at just over 1kg.

Meanwhile, Toshiba, perhaps the most significant casualty of the next-generation DVD battle, revealed more about its new alternative to Blu-ray, XDE. That stands for Extended Digital Enhancement, and is supposed to upscale standard definition film to a high-def like quality, as well as subtly improve colour, contrast and resolution. Toshiba hopes to get XDE players into UK stores in the next couple of months, with the price likely to be around £150.

One really clear trend emerging at the show is the proliferation of wireless connectivity hubs. With an era of plugless electricity still some way off, manufacturers are keen to find a way to streamline our audio-visual set-up. Both Sony and Philips showed off their "connectivity hubs", which connect to a television using a single, lengthy cable, which allows you to stash the hub in a cupboard, or out of the way. Then, rather than plugging your games console or Blu-ray player into the back of your television, you instead plug them into the connectivity hub. It means an end to the spaghetti junction of cables behind the TV itself, although it doesn't really solve the problem of myriad cables, but simply relocates it.

On an entirely frivolous note, Sony has also announced - finally - that Rolly. possibly the world's most bizarre MP3 player, will hit UK shops in October. Again, no word on price, but splashing out on this gadget is money well spent - despite it air of "novelty gadget", Rolly is in fact a pretty clever bit of kit.

While IFA is by no means a tech-fest on the scale of CES, there's plenty of stuff here to keep gadget fans occupied; and best of all, most of the stuff I've seen so far looks like it will be in shops by Christmas.

I'm going to need a bigger chimney...

    The Wire Season 5

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 12:17 PM EST [General]

I dont see how but they did it again.  It was a fitting end to the best show ever. I must admit after the last episode, I just kinda stared at the credits as the ride-cymbal and rim clicks played. Its weird finishing something you dig so much. Its a bittersweet satisfaction.

Just as youd suspect some characters die and some live. Some go to jail and some are set free. To everything there is a season....everything ends up in its place. The greatest thing ever is that they leave no loose ends. Unlike other more popular HBO series, you arent left wondering. And in a way thats the point of the show and why I like it so much. The story is the star. Everything that happens is relevent to the story.

It is the most touching season by far. And the most shocking. I mean there are some real powerful moments that take episodes to set up. And there are also some moments that you cant believe it just happened. (you will know what im talking about the second you see it)

There is a kinda shaky part of the story involving McNulty (or McNutty as Bubbles calls him). Its just a little far fetched but still works well. I guess its not anymore of a stretch than the Legalization of drugs thing.

Let me know what you think. Didnt want to say to much, just incase you didnt shut your life down like I did this weekend to watch it. Im still behind on work.......

    REMEMBERING YOUR FIRST DAY

Whether it's your first day of kindergarten, middle school, high school or college, the excitement and anxiety of 'first days' are palpable this time of year.  Just where did the summer go?

The first day of school.  Its a rite of passage, easy or not, and it becomes stuff nostalgia is made of.  Who doesn't remember the back to school shopping?  When I was in elementary school, we use to go to Daytons at SouthDale for all our back to school outfits.  There actually was an orange gazebo in the children's shoe department - does anyone remember that?  Once I found that perfect new pair of shoes, I would glide onto the gazebo for my catwalk stride, testing out my new patent leathers or mary janes.  At the end of the walk, the poor ol' salesperson would give that obligatory push on the toe, thus confirming a perfect fit!  At the end of our shopping, my sister and I would stage a fashion show for my Dad after dinner.  My favorite memory was the year (I think around 1972) when we each got matching faux leopard coats.  That and my Susan Partridge plastic jumper - man weren't we stylin'!

To me, the build up to a new school year seems more memorable than the actual first day.  Having been at the end of the line of siblings, all I ever wanted to do was go to school.  My mother once told me I said "Me Too" so much that she put me in kindergarten at the age of 4.  My memories float between a girl dropping a stapler on my friend Tom's head (5 stitches) and the ocassional thrill of being chosen to have the "magic wand",  tapping each classmate's head to encourage sleep at naptime.  I vividly remember my kindergarten teacher, in her huge bee-hive hairdo, pushing a television into our room to watch Neil Armstrong take his famous walk on the moon.  It was 1969 and the world was such a different place.  I was a 'walker' to school, venturing 4 blocks home each afternoon to eat my lunch and watch Casey Jones.

Junior high years were the most difficult for me.  Kids, especially girls, are nasty little creatures during this particular stage of life.  I'd never want to go back!  I wasn't a 'girly girl' and I had no time for pettiness and drama (still dont).  Other than my small circle of friends (mostly consisting of neighbor boys and two close girlfriends)  what saved me during these years was a wonderful 4 legged creature.  My parents had the wisdom to buy me a beautiful thoroughbred the summer of 6th grade.  I can't tell you the money I saved my parents in therapy by riding and showing my horse.   If you have a child now entering junior high (and that child happens to be a girl) remind yourself that this too shall pass....or start searching the classifieds for horses.

My high school days were so much fun.  I was ready to get on with my studies and get involved with school.  I wasn't a popular kid, but I never really knew it.  I had friends from all walks of life: the jocks, the book worms, the band kids and yes, also the burn-outs.  It didn't matter what clique someone identified with, I considered everyone that was nice to me my friend.  I figured out early that all people are gifts and by getting to know someone, they can enhance your life.

College years.  Those times were truly the best  years of my youth.  I was so ready to take that first step towards independence and discover more about life.   While my memories are wonderful, I'm already starting to get that pang of panic - its just two years away and my first born will be off to college.  If you have a child leaving the nest this year, I wish you restful sleep, an abundance in a 529 plan and many calls home to check in and say hello.

For Parents, the First Day of School is now a spectator sport. As we see them off on their first week of school, I know I will find myself watching, supporting and praying for a great year of discovery and growth.  We hope they take some of our life lessons with them as they enter a new school year.  Yet if you're like me, we hope they discover new and wonderful things to teach us too.

What is your most memorable First Day of School?

    Obama Baby!!

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:13 AM CST [General]

Every generation has an iconic figure who captures the spirit, personifies the will, and represents the hope and promise of its people. Sen. Barack Obama is cast in this mold: He stands among a select few, an heir of the icons and civic leaders who came before him, who all dutifully accepted the responsibility of public service in a quest to move our country in a new direction.

Today, we proudly stand on the threshold of a historic moment.  This evening - on the 45th anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech - Sen. Obama will become the first African-American to accept the presidential nomination of a major U.S. political party. This is a symbolic realization of Dr. King's vision, a triumphant milestone in U.S. history, regardless of one's political affiliations.

Terrorist Plots, Border Incidents, Drug Deals and Romance, August 26, 2008

By  Erika Borsos "pepper flower" (Gulf Coast of FL, USA) -

This is a contemporary novel which skillfully weaves together several head-line grabbing topics: a foiled Al Queda terrorist plot, C.I.A. operatives disguised as computer specialists working in Mexico, and a Christian religious cult which has an armed militia who clash with drug dealers at the Rio Grande border between Texas and Mexico. John P. Lintz, Sr writes a powerful and dynamic novel of suspense, romance, and a mysterious murder, involving two C.I.A. agents who uncover a terrorist plot while working in Mexico. I read this book in one sitting and could not put it down. The author demonstrates his great understanding of the international relations between the United States and Mexico and what a delicate balance it is to maintain border patrol while respecting the laws of both nations. The author provides light-hearted moments as the romance between the two C.I.A. agents blossoms into an affair and eventually into serious plans for a wedding. He opens a window into understanding the contrasting cultural views of being engaged and having a marriage suitor ... The mystery murder is an unexpected twist and golden hook which keeps the reader glued to every page, anticipating and wanting more.

The author creates a highly plausible scenario where the terrorists store their weapons at the very busy seaport, the Puerto Altamira on the Gulf of Mexico near the city of Tampico. Their plans are to cross the border into the U.S. to create a surprise attack at a designated target. The plot unraveled by serendipity. The identities of the terrorists were accidentally discovered due to the foresight of JJ (Juan Jose) Ibarra (undercover C.I.A.). He used his cell phone camera to photograph three Arab men who had lunch at the same restaurant where he and his coworker/girlfriend were dining. He immediately sent the photo to C.I.A. headquarters where the wheels were set into motion to foil the plot before it got off the ground. The manner in which the events went down makes for a great reading experience. Sadly, this is not so far from reality, as the 9-1-1 pilots learned to fly at a flight school located at small airport in Southwest Florida before pulling off one of the worst terrorists attacks to ever occur on American soil. Imagine what a difference it would have made, how many lives would have been saved, had the flight instructor followed his gut instincts, and reported to a higher authority, the fact that he had foreign students of Middle Eastern extraction who wanted to learn to fly but were not interested in learning how to land ...

The author's writing style is dynamic, flowing and flawless. He is a master of his craft. His unique knowledge about weapons and their effectiveness spills off the pages. I love how he occasionally intersperses the Spanish language throughout the novel creating an authenticity to the scenes and events. He has a great understanding of modern technology and media coverage. His knowledge of the political dynamics between the United States and Mexico is enviable. His ability to show how a religious cult who uses peyote as a sacrament could emass a militia and weapons and then twist the scenario into looking acceptable via media coverage when they use their military expertise is astonishing. The author has tremendous knowledge and insight about world events and human beings. This is an outstanding novel. Erika Borsos [pepper flower]
